Florida Optometry Eye Health Fund (FOEHF)

The Fund operates primarily to further the common good and general welfare of the community as a whole. The Fund provides an apparatus and mechanism to encourage and support the health and welfare, and an improved quality of life, for the residents of the State of Florida and individual communities within the state.

The mission of the Fund includes expanding public awareness of the importance of comprehensive eye health care, and includes taking action designed to ensure that all segments of Florida society understand the importance of receiving comprehensive eye health care in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Fund’s mission also includes promoting public access to cost effective comprehensive eye health care. The Fund supports activities and organizations that further the Fund’s mission. The activities of the Fund include funding grants, programs, and projects which promote public education and awareness of the availability and benefits of cost effective, comprehensive eye health care.

The Fund works for the adoption of laws and public policies which support its mission. Seeking legislation germane to the Fund’s mission is a permissible means of attaining social welfare. As a result, an important part of the Fund’s mission is to monitor proposed legislation and to interact with state legislators and other government leaders when such is consistent with the Fund’s mission. The Fund may engage in some political activities in furtherance of its mission as long as those activities are not its primary activity.
