Congratulations to the 2020 AOA Award Winners

The American Optometric Association has released their 2020 award winners, and the FOA would like to extend congratulations to those optometrists that have contributed greatly to the profession of optometry and the visual health of the public. Among the award winners, the FOA's legislative chair, Kenneth Lawson, O.D., was recognized as AOA's Optometrist of the Year. 

The awards are designated by the AOA as follows:

The Optometrist of the Year Award recognizes Kenneth Lawson, O.D., of Florida, for his outstanding service on behalf of the profession and the visual welfare of the public.

The Young Optometrist of the Year Award recognizes Roya Attar, O.D., of Mississippi, who has been in practice less than 10 years and demonstrates remarkable leadership when serving the profession, patients and her community.

The Optometric Educator Award recognizes Caroline Beesley Pate, O.D., of Alabama, for outstanding service on behalf of the profession, optometric education and the visual welfare of the public.

The Paraoptometric of the Year Award recognizes Janet Millis, CPOT, of Illinois, for her significant contributions to the profession of paraoptometry.

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes Roger Jordan, O.D., of Wyoming, for his unusually significant contributions to the profession of optometry.
