The Palm Beach County Optometric Association

is honored to host our

34th Annual Palm Beach Winter Seminar

at the Hilton West Palm Beach on Friday February 9th through Sunday February 11th, 2018.

The Hilton is located within the epicenter of downtown West Palm Beach, with Clematis Street, CityPlace, the Norton Museum of Art and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts all located less than a mile from the Hotel.   CityPlace is a dynamic and energetic shopping, dining and entertainment destination in Palm Beach County, offering an amazing fashion mix of shops as well as a variety of restaurant and entertainment venues.

The schedule for this year's seminar will include education hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as our Golf Tournament Friday afternoon. Evenings are free for you to enjoy live music and entertainment, divine dining and city nightlife.

There will be a total of 20 CE hours available, including 8 hours of Transcript Quality education as well as the required Medical Errors and Florida Jurisprudence courses.   The full course agenda will be posted on our website soon.

FAQs

When does the Biennium end?

The current Biennium ends on February 28th, 2019 so this year's Palm Beach Winter Seminar is a mid-biennium event.  Although you have another year to obtain your required CE hours, why wait?  Get your hours now and avoid that last minute mad rush next year.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There are a number of parking options available:

  • Valet parking is available at the Hilton for a PBWS reduced rate of $8 per day or $17 overnight.
  • Park across the street at City Place in the Hibiscus Garage.  The first hour is free, then there is an hourly rate of $1 per hour with a $10 maximum per day.  If you are shopping at City Place, you can validate your ticket to receive 3 additional hours free.

For our out of state attendees, Palm Beach International (PBI) is the most convenient airport.

  • Palm Beach International (PBI):  4 miles, approximately 7-9 minutes
  • Fort Lauderdale International (FLL):  51 miles, approximately 53 minutes
  • Miami International (MIA): 72 miles, approximately 1 hour 19 minutes

How do I book a room at the hotel?

We have a room block for $295 per night.  Rooms are limited so if you plan to stay, make reservations soon.

*** The cutoff is January 9th to reserve within the group rate.***

A dedicated website is now available for you to book hotel rooms online. Reservations can be made at: http://tinyurl.com/pbws2018rooms

Can I register onsite? Yes, onsite registration is available and there is an additional Pay At the Door fee of $50.  Please bring a laptop or tablet to access course materials in case printed handouts have all been distributed to pre-registered attendees.  ***Please note that online registration ends Wednesday February 7th after midnight.***

What is the refund policy?

There is an administrative fee of $50.00 for all cancellations prior to January 19th, 2018.  We are unable to offer refunds after January 19th.

What time do I need to be there?  When will classes end?

Classes begin at 8am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Registration opens at 7am and there will be breakfast available each morning.  Classes end around 5 on Friday and Saturday, and there is a buffet lunch both days.  On Sunday, classes are from 8am - 2 pm (really finishing at 1:40ish).  There will be breakfast but no lunch on Sunday.

I'm a Florida doctor who took the 20 hour Orals Course.  Does that count for my TQ (transcript quality) requirements?

No, you can receive 20 general CE hours for the Orals Course on a one-time-only basis. You will still need to take 6 hours of TQ as well as 2 hours of Florida Jurisprudence and 2 hours of Medical Errors in the biennium that you take the 20 hours course.  If you used those hours for a previous biennium you will need your full 30 hours for this current biennium.
